Hello and welcome to JessiKate Creates!
My names is Jessica and I am in love with all things paper and ink. My passion for card making began after college. I moved over 1,000 miles away from home to be with the love of my life. It was a big move, but one of the best decisions I ever made (we will be saying "I do" in October!). In the story of my life, Iowa was a chapter of "firsts". My first apartment, my first "real" job, my first pork tenderloin sandwich, and my first card.
While I worked on making new friends, I decided needed to pick up a new hobby. I happened across a Kristina Werner video and I was hooked by her watercolor skills and beautiful handmade cards. Then I found Jennifer Mcguire. I couldn't help but be amazed by their creations. One night I decided that instead of just watching the videos, I would try making a card. I went to my thrift store and bought a set of used stamps full of small floral images. I popped into a craft store and bought some memento inks, colorful cardstock, and a set of stamping blocks. Paper, stamps, ink - I was ready to go. I had so much fun making that first card. It was a lot of trial and error - not inking the stamp enough, wiggling the stamps too much, pressing too hard or not hard enough. But in the end, I was so proud of the little card I made that I sent it to my mother. She was happy to get the surprise in the mail. That's when I realized that making and sharing cards is a small act of love and kindness. And thus began my love of card making. I haven't looked back since. I hope through this blog I am able to share my love of stamping with you.
